JOB DESCRIPTION:


Primary Purpose of the Position:
• Act as the primary plant optimization subject matter expert 
inside the plant.  Teach, coach and mentor leaders and associates 
to leverage the pillar methodology to drive a sustainable 
implementation.
• Develop a partnership and work closely with the Regional Plant 
Optimization Practitioner to understand the plant organization and 
culture, tire manufacturing processes, deployment progress to date 
and resources required to drive the implementation.
• Support the Plant Leadership Team in the strategic direction and 
deployment of Plant Optimization to ensure consistent and rigorous 
application across the plant = "One Goodyear Way".
•  Drive the development of a problem solving culture amongst all 
associates focused on loss elimination to deliver business results.
• Lead the PO Specialists and share/benchmark with other plants as 
appropriate.
 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• 50%- Create the strategic direction to leverage Plant 
Optimization methodology to coach leaders and pillar champions to 
deliver results and sustain improvements. Ensure discipline to the 
methodology to make Plant Optimization the operating system, 
teaching and educating associates.   Act as a key member of the 
Plant Steering Team and report to the site Manufacturing Director. 
• 15% -Drive the progress and effectiveness of application of 
methodology of each pillar implementation against master plan and, 
in partnership with plant optimization specialists and pillar 
leaders, develop contingency/recovery plans necessary to improve 
plant KPIs and deliver business results.  Drive gap closures from 
PO maturity assessment when appropriate.
• 15% -Coach the plant pillar leaders and other associates on the 
cultural transformation of Plant Optimization (change management). 
Model and teach the behaviors that reinforce the methodology.                                 
• 10% Conduct pillar audits to ensure adherence to the methodology 
and participate in the plant's Daily Management System (DMS) to 
sustain improvement gains.  
• 10% Provide clear, concise and direct feedback to Plant and 
Regional leadership on successes and challenges to replicate and 
sustain improvements. Partner with Regional Plant Optimization 
Manager to ensure maximum effectiveness of PO deployment plans. 
 

Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical 
Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field.
 

Experience:
• 10 or more years of manufacturing experience in production, 
quality, engineering or related field 
•  5 or more years of management experience in a manufacturing 
environment
• Experience in a Union environment (if applicable to plant)
•  Demonstrated experience in implementing Plant Optimization or 
Lean/TPM principles in a manufacturing environment.
 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Solid experience in implementing and knowledge of Plant 
Optimization pillars (Workplace Organization, Daily Equipment Care,
• Focused Improvement, Reliability Excellence, etc.) 
• Demonstrated ability to lead and direct cross-functional work 
teams
•  Strong project & time management skills
• Knowledge of Zero Loss Thinking & Loss/Financial Stratification
