JOB DESCRIPTION:


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as the project manager for NPD and SE projects within BD UCC.  
Guides the successful completion of projects.
Work with BD UCC management to assign appropriate resources.
Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of 
other related disciplines.
Develops technical and business process solutions to complex 
problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and 
creativity.
Responsible for the creation of the project’s work breakdown 
structures, integrated business plans and product requirements.
Designs and performs product & process development of a complex 
nature, working with functional and multifunctional teams within 
defined parameters. Modifies methodologies and procedures as 
applicable for efficient project execution and to realize desired 
results.
Ensures quality conduct of all project activities including design, 
data summary and interpretation, report and document preparation, 
and review adherence to applicable regulations and quality 
requirements.
Represents the organization as the principal project lead for 
contracts, project documentation and communication. Interacts with 
external resources on significant technical matters, often 
requiring coordination between multiple organizations.
Leads small to large-scale projects of varying complexity, and/or 
leads a multi-functional team through all phases of project 
execution.
Applies advanced principles, established methodologies and project 
management concepts  and has working knowledge of related 
disciplines.
Provides management with regular formal reviews and updates at both 
key decision points and milestone completion.
Analyzes and interprets data and development situations & events 
requiring evaluation of identifiable factors.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of relevant financial metrics and 
related concepts (e.g. IRR, NPV, ROI, P&L).
Possesses capable understanding of project management standards, 
principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Responsible for team meetings (e.g. face-to-face, teleconference, 
and/or webinars) and generation of meeting minutes.
Responsible for technical design reviews and phase gate reviews.
Responsible for communication of team objectives, milestones and 
progress/
Responsible for Planview project status updates;  prepares business 
reports & update communications.
Develop and track project budgets.  Work with Finance to prepare 
project financial models, budget tracking spreadsheets and 
reporting.
Prepare and track required Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) 
for capital equipment purchases.
Partner in continuous improvement of NPD and SE systems, methods 
and procedures.
Author new or modified procedures to address opportunities for 
improvement.
Ensure products, systems and processes are established in 
accordance with Corporate and Division product development 
policies.
Assist Sales and Marketing in commercialization and launch 
activities.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

B.S. Degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences is required.  
An advanced degree in an engineering discipline, and/or an MBA, is 
desired.
Minimum 5+ years relevant experience in product development and 
design, with at least 3 years new product development (NPD) 
experience in a regulated industry required.
 5+ years of experience as a cross-functional team member and 3+ 
years of experience leading a cross-functional team.
CAPM / PMP Certification is desired.

Experience utilizing combination of analytical, statistical, and 
empirical methods to gain deep understanding of product design and 
minimize overall development timelines
 Ability to communicate complex technical and business issues 
concisely & effectively to enable decision making and drive cross-
functional alignment
Demonstrated technical and business skills and judgment, to 
significantly influence the technical and business direction of the 
project. Able to create and influence novel thinking within the 
team, as needed for problem solving and to resolve conflicts
Ability to lead and drive the identification, validation, and 
mitigation planning of all project risks, including technical, 
schedule, business, and resources, based on a thorough 
understanding of the technical and business content of the 
integrated project plan and work breakdown structure.
Ability to integrate technical, business, and customer information 
to generate novel, differentiated solutions and concepts
Ability to engage all appropriate functions to define and make 
technical and business tradeoffs.
Identifies and creates new avenues of excellence. Self-starting and
