JOB DESCRIPTION:


I.  Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, is responsible for designing, developing, coding, testing, 
and debugging new software and producing significant enhancements to existing software.  
Conducts complex business process analysis, needs assessments, and participates in 
design sessions with Architects in order to align information technology solutions with 
business initiatives.  Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized 
technical knowledge in software design and testing.
 
II.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  To perform this job 
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  Other 
ancillary duties may be assigned. 
 
Design, install, configure, test, maintain, and monitor infrastructure, software 
applications, managed services, containers, operating systems, and system management 
tools  
Develop, maintain and scale solutions/features/applications on AWS. 
Extensive experience migrating and deploying cloud-based solutions (AWS)  
Proactively ensure the highest levels of system and infrastructure confidentiality, 
integrity, and availability  
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible 
solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes  
Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human 
intervention time on any tasks  
Take ownership of mission-critical features related to the development and deployment 
in AWS. 
Maintain an open dialog with the product team about roadmap, technical debt, and 
proposed solutions for features. 
Responsible for providing a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions 
Leads small-to-medium technical projects. Works with and under the direction of the 
Project/Technical Manager.  
Provides planning and design support for the development of solution architectures that 
will be implemented in a multiple system environment 
Mentors and fosters growth of peers and team members.
May work on-call shifts on a rotation basis.
 
III.  Supervisory Responsibilities
May coach and mentor less-experienced analysts and act as team leader on systems 
projects.
 
IV.  Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to 
perform the job. 
 
A.  Education and Experience
 
Required:  Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of 
study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 5 years of 
relevant experience.

Preferred:  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or MIS and five or more years of 
software development experience.
 
B.  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
 
AWS Certified Developer Associate or Architect preferred. 
 
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
 
Advanced knowledge or skills in one or more of the following is required:
Ability to manage and monitor AWS EMR, EC2, ECS, S3, RDS Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL), 
DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, Lambda, API Gateway.  
Deep product knowledge and understanding of product features including IaaS, PaaS, and 
SaaS Solutions 
Experience in hybrid Cloud Solutions  
Experience with encryption and key management principles and design patterns.  
Experience with networking principles and technologies (DNS, Load Balancers, Reverse 
Proxies).  
Experience with automation and DevOps principles.  
Support high volume, high throughput workloads.  
Sound Data Management (data integration, metadata management, data quality, governance) 
fundamentals.  
Monitoring systems (Cloudwatch, Datadog, Splunk) 
Sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for 
the design and architecture. 
Possesses advanced level of technical knowledge in microservices and scalable systems. 
Ability to apply technology and consulting to solve complex business problems. 
Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence 
Ability to learn new and emerging technologies.
 
D. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities that Contribute to Success
 
May require advanced skills in one or more of the following:
Web application development, imaging technology.
Strong/Expert proficiency in JavaScript, AWS , NoSQL and microservices. 
2+ years of working with JS frameworks (Node.js, React/Angular) or 5+ years of Java 
Experience                                                
Experience with Single-sign-on (SSO) solutions including SAML and OAuth authentication 
options.
