Summary: The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for the design of a wide range of furnace related mechanical and electromechanical product designs. The Mechanical Engineer will take technical lead on specific projects as assigned and will be assigned multiple projects at once. Job Duties: Design and component selection with regard to Mechanical Engineering practices; materials selection, heat transfer, stress, fluid dynamics Analyze customer requirements, equipment specifications, performance requirements. Obtain required information through various sources Engineering assistance to Sales, Manufacturing and Field Service groups Create and release detailed drawings, bills of materials Attend project meetings and communicate progress with all stakeholders Write procedures, specifications, manuals and reports as needed Review of job cost requirements and keeping job on budget As-built drawing completion Engineering change management Travel of up to 10% may be required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 4-7 years Engineering/designing for manufacturing and fabrication Vacuum furnace and high temperature (Up to 3000°C) experience preferred but not required Proficient using solid modeling software (AutoCad Inventor preferred) Proficient designing in both 2D and solids 2D part design experience (3-views) Ability to apply mathematical concepts in mechanics, strengths of materials, fluid flow, electrical power. Ability to read and create manufacturing prints to ANSI standards, using GD&T Must be a team player, creative, hands-on and have strong mechanical knowledge Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, with Manufacturing, Field Service and customers. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
