JOB DESCRIPTION:


General Information/Job Summary

This position is responsible for activities involved with the procurement of engineered 
equipment and goods such as materials, tools, parts, and supplies for Commodities group. 
Confers with vendors to obtain product information, such as price, availability, and 
delivery schedule.

Responsibilities/Competencies

Follow all Saulsbury policies, procedures, safety practices and Best Practices
Take an active role in procurement of engineering and commodity materials for Saulsbury 
projects by identifying potential suppliers, preparing inquiries, soliciting quotes and 
evaluating bids. Addresses exceptions to bids and T&Cs and issues purchasing orders.
Maintain itemized procurement records on Spectrum and the procurement drive.
Contribute to the efforts of Expediting and Project Management to ensure that material is 
delivered on schedule according to the construction field need dates.
Interface with technical support personnel on material and equipment specifications.
Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Compares prices amongst various vendors in order to make sound purchasing decisions.
Reconciles discrepancies on price, mode of shipping and delivery time.
Works within a given budget to purchase engineered equipment and commodities.
Work closely with Material Management group to resolve all OS&D issues.
Work with the Accounts Payable department to ensure accuracy of invoices and timely 
payments.
Monitors trends in supplier and mark movements and informs management of events that could 
affect supply, price and delivery.
Attend training as required to increase knowledge and procurement skills.
Learn to negotiate T&Cs.

Requirements

5-7 years purchasing experience with all types of materials and engineered equipment 
buying for the oil and gas, refining, and/or petrochemical industries
Experience with procurement of engineered equipment desirable
Construction related experience highly preferred
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal relations skills.
Possesses strong negotiating skills.
Professional, ethical, team player willing to grow with Company
Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and work in an environment or changing 
priorities.
Skilled in the use of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Is trustworthy and does not abuse authority or misappropriate funds.
