JOB DESCRIPTION:


General Information/Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing instrumentation and electrical design duties 
for projects in the oil and gas industry. The I&E Designer will work with other 
engineering disciplines to create instrumentation and electrical drawing packages for 
construction

Responsibilities/Competencies

Maintain the integrity of company's policies and procedures.
Read and understand process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Work with vendors to review installation requirements for the different pieces of 
electrical equipment.
Must be able to do electrical system walk-downs and create as-built drawings.
Create electrical construction drawings such as one-line diagrams, motor circuit diagrams, 
grounding plans, conduit plans, interconnection diagrams, and area classification plans.
Prepare electrical designs for industrial projects.
Coordinate instrument specification, sizing, selection, and drawings.
Determine control system specifications, software designs, and configurations.
Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and 
equipment specification and selection.
Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, estimates, etc.
Provide necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and 
correct installation of materials.
Apply the NEC and perform calculations related to sizing electrical circuits and 
equipment.
Apply knowledge of electrical engineering and design and be familiar with applicable 
Codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices.
Verify instrument installation, calibration, and operation.
Efficiently and accurately develop wiring and installation drawings for electrical 
equipment and instrumentation.
Interact with designers and engineers within the E&I group, and from other disciplines, in 
a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Requirements            

Proficient with AutoCAD and ability to take vendor information and produce construction 
drawings. Experience in both Electrical design and Instrumentation
Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
Experience with instrumentation, hazardous location wiring practices, panel design, and 
PLC hardware
Must be able to calculate voltage drop, conduit fill, etc.
NEC Code and Plant Specific Standard knowledge/comprehension a must
Demonstrated teamwork in the ability to work well with Lead SI designer or engineer and 
aptitude to learn new work processes.
Able to solve design problems, check model interfaces, etc. with marginal equipment data.
Expedites project information reporting to engineer or design lead on the status of 
his/her part of the project.
Experience is with gas plant design is a plus.
