Specific Job Description:
The candidate selected for this position as a Professional Engineer (P.E., S.E.) shall 
be a college graduate from an engineering program and be a licensed P.E./S.E. with the 
state of Arizona (in good standing) and willingness to pursue additional licenses in 
other states, specifically, Arizona and California.

This position includes significant engineering fieldwork across a diverse set of 
activities and responsibilities including many of the following:
Work directly, daily with the Arizona office staff and Engineers
Direct daily interaction and communication with a variety of clients
Develop project scope and proposals for a variety of clients and projects
Serve as day-to-day point of contact for key clients in collaboration for their 
projects and project management for the Arizona office
Manage task completion in accordance with expected deliverables, working within 
consulting budget and delivery dates
Provide clear and responsive feedback to clients about their projects - Be responsive 
to company leadership, teammates, and clients
Actively participate in project meetings, team meetings, planning meetings
Perform field inspections on the full spectrum of buildings, including old and new 
construction, residential and commercial structures, and high and low-rise buildings
Assist with Homeowner / Condo Association Reserve Studies (ability to complete reports 
/ write / review is required)
Due Diligence Inspections including Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and 
Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
Review construction documents, blueprints to evaluate a project's constructability from 
an engineering, materials and other relevant perspectives (e.g. Constructability 
Reviews)
Write, review and assess inspection proposals and reports for clients, ensuring clients 
receive clear, timely and high-quality reports for assigned projects including field 
inspections, technical writing and associated cost estimations
Other specialty engineering consulting and inspection services such as insurance claims 
investigations, energy and sustainability studies, fire/life safety studies, structural 
evaluations, etc.
Maintain accurate, timely and complete communications, operations, reporting, project 
management, weekly staff time reporting, Owner discussions, and ensuring project needs 
and deadlines are met
We recognize that not all candidates will have the full breadth of significant 
experience. However, we have had much success growing our employees and CKE will 
provide the tools you need to succeed. As a professional engineer, we assume you 
possess interest and experience with buildings, infrastructure and a multitude of 
structural, electrical, mechanical and physical elements that comprise buildings. 
Candidates should also have structural design knowledge, AutoCAD (Revit is a plus) and 
a strong learning and curiosity orientation.

Each day will provide new project opportunities and variety. The ability to take 
direction, desire to learn, to work efficiently, and independently or in a team is 
crucial in this position.

Strong ethics, attention to detail, and professionalism are of utmost importance.

Required Skills / Minimum Qualifications:
This position will require travel to job sites around the Phoenix metro area, 
throughout Arizona, and occasionally our office in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Minimum of bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical or 
Construction Engineering Technology
Licensed, Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer with an Arizona license with 
preferred ability / desire to obtain license in Nevada (and possibly California)
Knowledge and/or interest in building construction activities, including a practical 
knowledge of construction, means, methods, and materials
Experience with conveying objective, unbiased perspectives even if the information 
requires clients to make improvements to plans and work quality
OSHA 10 certification or equivalent
Strong building code knowledge - certifications preferred
Knowledge of ASTM, AAMA, and discipline-specific Commissioning standards and testing 
procedures
Must be currently licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the State of 
Nevada
Field Experience
3-5 years (minimum) of relevant experience
Excellent verbal / interpersonal communication skills
Strong writing skills
Ability to follow documented process (and improve it)
Structural engineering evaluations, repair design, new construction design
AutoCAD experience / drafting (familiarity)
Proven self-starter who can work independently and in a team / understanding of the 
workings of small business is a plus
Strong attention to detail is a necessity
Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to remain objective and calm in challenging situations
Willingness to take the initiative: learn new skills, offer solutions

Job tasks are detailed through an operations manual, established processes and 
standards, and senior/peer engineer involvement that ensure the highest quality results 
for every client - whether a large corporate client, or an individual homeowner. This 
position also requires office work as the selected candidate will be required to write 
reports for each project utilizing established templates that provide each client with 
a customized and specific report addressing their requirements.

In performing the above responsibilities and additional responsibilities that arise, 
the engineer must be a strong team player - the engineer will effectively and 
professionally interface with members of the CKE team.

Desired Skills / Qualifications:
Licensed engineer in the State of Nevada (Structural/Civil)
Skill / interest experience areas should include some of the following: structural 
analysis/inspection, structural design/calculations, stucco/EIFS knowledge, water 
intrusion inspections, walls/fences/retaining walls, electrical, mechanical, and 
plumbing systems, ADA compliance, etc.
Contacts in the building / construction / real estate industries in Phoenix
MS Office Skills (Word and Excel), capable of utilizing and learning new software
Working knowledge of computers, tablets, etc.
Proposal and written report experience
Self-starter with the ability to anticipate issues before they arise
Understanding how one's actions and decisions impact a small business
