Senior Manufacturing /Supplier Development Engineer for our Manufacturing Engineering Supply Chain team. In this role, you will assist suppliers in manufacturing issues on company parts and Assemblies or Supplier IP parts and Assemblies. You will also work with suppliers to establish the most efficient techniques to manufacture parts to print using manufacturing techniques that ensure quality. You will be an active participant in the company's Supply Chain transformation as we embrace AS9145 on our zero defects journey. This position is based at our aerospace plant in East Aurora, NY As a Sr. Manufacturing (Supplier Development) Engineer, you will… Responsibilities: • Support the fabrication of complex machined parts and sub-assemblies by providing technical expertise and support for suppliers. • Prepare part risk assessments and conduct them with the suppliers. • Review manufacturing processes to insure they will yield parts compliant to engineering drawings and specifications. • Coordinate with various departments and team members to understand design intent and communicate design intent to the suppliers. • Review suppliers manufacturing capabilities. • Establish piece part and assembly costs and conduct engineering quote support. • Work with the company's suppliers to coordinate operation sheets containing outside and inside operations. • Recommend tooling, fixturing, and gaging concepts to help suppliers manufacture complex components. • Assist suppliers in resolving problems related to the manufacture of company parts. • Review manufacturing specifications and provide technical guidance on the specifications. • Review new product designs and identify manufacturing concerns and communicate these to design using a data driven approach. • Work with suppliers and the company's design to conduct DFX activities on new designs. • Review PPAP submittals for completeness and accuracy. • Create and participate in FMEA activities with the suppliers. • Conduct gage R&Rs with the company and suppliers. Review gage R&R data. • Conduct MSA with the company and the suppliers to establish correlation and minimize gage correlation issues. • Review process capability data • Be an active participant in the company's Zero-Defect journey utilizing the AS9145 concepts. • Travel 25% to supplier facilities (domestic, primarily west coast) • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience. • Additional seasoned experience in manufacturing engineering that would be equivalent to what is learned in a degreed program would be an acceptable alternative to the B. S. Degree requirement. Preferred Qualifications: • Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering • Experience in a SC Manufacturing Engineering role • Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal / organizational skills, and be able to demonstrate an ability to understand complex regulations/procedures • Experience in a matrix based organization • Experience with PPAP submissions • Experience in the aerospace industry • Experience in the automotive industry • Experience in APQP • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, ability to influence • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business needs
