Day- to-Day Responsibilities: Leading engine design efforts on bipropellant and/or monopropellant engine applications. Design and development with proven successful test results and flight heritage. Apply your expertise in rocket design and scientific theory to the design process. Complete the overall engine design necessary to support customer missions, including the design of the injector and nozzle/chamber as well as establishing the valve requirements. Application engineers the company's standard products to meet new mission requirements. Support the detailed analyses for the rocket engines including combustion, thermal, structural, dynamic and plume analyses. Depending on the project, you may complete these required analyses. Plan the overall test campaign necessary to demonstrate compliance to customer requirements. Mentor and coach other design engineers in the design of various engine/system applications. Present your work to colleagues and to customers. Work in Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD application. Direct other engineers to generate conceptual designs/drawings, and/or conduct that work individually. Here’s what you’ll bring with you… Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10 years of in-space rocket engine design experience; MS or PhD preferred (candidates with less than 10 years’ experience will be considered based on content of past design and development experience specific to rocket engines). Knowledge / expertise, and experience in, designing of rocket engines and the theory that governs their designs. The primary site for engine design and development work is at our Niagara Falls location. This is the preferred site for the engine design engineer. Consideration will be given to other company locations in East Aurora NY, Golden CO, Mountain View CA, Chatsworth CA, Gilbert AZ, or Huntsville AL. Extensive travel to Niagara Falls will be required if the individual resides in one of these other sites. The company's SDG has engineering resources in several locations in the United States. The design engineer will work collaboratively cross these sites to meet our customer’s needs.
